About the author

Her story first!

Before delving into their stories, let us know her story first. Diya Vinod or just D, as some of her close friends call her, is just another 20-years-old someone living in the chaos of Chennai’s metro life, only with a heart that feels a little more. She loves meeting new people, listens like she means it and tries to connect with them on a level deeper than memes and situationships. Is she an extrovert? Eh, Maybe. Maybe not. What is the term for someone who's usually quiet but gives off such cozy and good-vibes energy that people naturally gravitate towards her, eager to share their joys, their sorrows and their weirdest worries? Yeah, let's call her that.

On her 20th birthday she decided to gift herself something memorable, something which captures her essence, her little imprint on this wild, magnificent planet. And that’s how The Stories They Told came to life- with heart, a hint of chaos and a whole lot of soul. This is a space where she narrates her encounters with people and shares snippets of her conversations with them. While some of these stories might make you throw your hands up and scream “absolute cinema”, many can feel all too familiar and relatable. These are the real ones. The real dramas and the real traumas which they will carry forever. But each one holds a quiet little lesson, waiting to be found. There is a saying- “God gives his toughest roles to his best actors.” The Stories They Told presents the ordinary actors among us, who show up and still believe in life and humans despite everything they've been through.

The names have been changed. The truths haven’t. Any resemblance to real persons- living, dead or somewhere in between is…not entirely coincidental ;). The stories are anonymous, the emotions are real and most importantly, this is a judgment-free zone. So, dear readers, welcome to this little corner of the internet where yours truly, D, dives into everything from mental health, dating, and relationships to academics, betrayal, and failure, all served with a sprinkle of humour, a dash of honesty and just the right amount of overthinking :) !!
